The Boston Game:
Games 3 & 4

Skill Drills

Playing hockey and showing off your skills is all fun and games…until the games come with higher stakes. The Boston Games is a series of 6 mini games that each require a high level of various skills in order to complete.

Swaggy P from Elev802 and Kayla Friesen from the Boston Pride go head-to-head to show off their skills and beat the games! Next, we have games 3&4: Red Light Green Light & One-Timers. Let’s take a closer look at what these games are made of.

GAME 3: RED LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT

Products:

  • All-Star Dryland Flooring Tiles or Multi-Sport Tiles
  • Pucks
  • Swedish Stickhandling Ball
  • Skill:

  • Stickhandling
  • Objective: Getting those hands hot

  • Step 1: This game requires you to work on those stickhandling skills and balancing the puck on your stick. Take turns with a friend; one person is the stickhandler, the other is “it” (covering your eyes and then turning around).
  • Step 2: You can mix it up with either continuously stickhandling with pucks or balls or bouncing pucks in the air and catching them on your stick.
  • Step 3: Your partner is in charge of saying “red light, green light” and starts off facing away from you with their eyes closed. When they turn around, you must freeze along with the puck or ball that you’re using.
  •

    GAME 4: ONE-TIMERS

    Products:

  • Extreme Goal
  • Extreme Triangle Passer 2.0
  • Pucks
  • Skill:

  • Shooting
  • Skating
  • Passing
  • Objective: To beat the goalie with a wicked shot

  • Step 1: Set up your Synthetic Ice Revolution Tiles along with an Extreme Goal. If you can, get a real goalie in net. If not, a shooter tutor will do!
  • Step 2: Start about 10-20 feet away from the goalie, depending on the size of your training area.
  • Step 3: You can either use a Triangle Passer for this or grab a buddy. Receive a pass from a friend or pass it to the Triangle Passer and on its way to you, take a one-timer on net!
  • Step 4: Try your best to time it perfectly for the best shot and look for the open spaces when shooting!
